Biosecurity: Our Shield Against Disease

Our closed-farm systems ensure maximum disease prevention through rigorous institutional control and systematic risk management.

Closed Farm Policy

Our controlled entry and exit philosophy is the cornerstone of our operations. By maintaining a strict closed-farm policy, we mitigate external biological risks and ensure the integrity of our herd's health environment through precise institutional oversight.

This systemic approach involves physical barriers, rigorous documentation of all movements, and a non-negotiable adherence to quarantine intervals for all life-cycles and logistical operations.

Institutional Objective

To achieve a pathogen-free environment (PFE) by eliminating vectors of transmission through geographical isolation and operational containment.

  • 100% Perimeter Control
  • Zero Unplanned Entry

The Three Pillars of Our Protection

We categorize our biosecurity into three distinct layers:

Segregation

Physical barriers that keep our pigs away from infected animals and contaminated objects.

Cleaning

The removal of all visible dirt and organic material from equipment and transport.

Disinfection

Using hospital-grade chemicals to kill any remaining microscopic pathogens.

Standard Operating Practice for Visitors and Personnel

To maintain a sterile environment, all authorized visitors must adhere to the following:

01
Strict "No Pig Contact" Policy

Visitors must have had no contact with other swine for at least 48-72 hours before entry.

02
Shower-In / Shower-Out

All staff must shower and change into farm-dedicated clothing before entering production areas.

03
Logbook Registry

Every person entering the premises is recorded for full traceability of every barn.

04
Footbaths

Mandatory disinfectant footbaths (Virkon S or equivalent) at the entrance of every barn.

Mandatory Compliance

  • Removal of all jewelry, watches, and personal mobile devices before entering the clean zone.

  • Standardized footbath usage between internal building compartments (Zone Segregation).

  • Adherence to the "One-Way Flow" system for staff movement from youngest to oldest stock.

Environmental & Stress Management

Stress is the primary trigger for pig illness.

Climate Control:

We maintain specific temperature zones:

Piglets

30–35°C (85–95°F)

Critical for newborns

Adults

15–20°C (60–70°F)

With high-volume ventilation

Space Allowance:

Overcrowding leads to tail-biting and respiratory issues. Our pens provide at least 1.2 square meters per finisher pig to ensure freedom of movement.

Our Commitment to Resilience

Biosecurity is not a static set of rules but a continuous process of risk evaluation and refinement. At IILP, we leverage the latest scientific research to upgrade our protocols, ensuring that our animals, our people, and our food supply remain secure against evolving biological threats.
